Rates hardship support

We understand that some people in our community are facing financial hardship, and this is something Council has taken into account in considering rates payments.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, you can apply for a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment plan to help spread the payment of your rates.

If you currently have a payment plan with us but now need to make changes, you can apply for a new payment arrangement.

Those who have a current Personal Centrelink Reference number and receive a current welfare payment will be eligible to apply. Alternative evidence of financial hardship will also be considered.

Please note in cases of extreme financial hardship we will consider a short-term deferral of your rates.

Financial Assistance (Rates & Charges) Policy

Council recently implemented the Financial Assistance (Rates & Charges) Policy(PDF, 157KB)  which provides options to people experiencing financial difficulty.

Whether you are a residential or a business ratepayer, this policy can support you with payment plans, payment deferrals, and waivers of penalty interest.
