Safe City Advisory Committee
The City of Melton Safe City Advisory Committee (SCAC) has been established to enhance road and community safety in the City of Melton through a whole-of-community collaborative approach.
In particular the Committee:
- supports the implementation and evaluation of the Safe City, Proud Communities Plan 2020-2024
- provides advice and recommendations in the development of strategies and activities that promote a safe, connected, cohesive and resilient community
- shares information and identifies issues that may impact or influence safety, wellbeing and community cohesion in the City of Melton
- contributes to the planning and delivery of local initiatives aimed at strengthening road and community safety at the individual, environmental and societal levels
- contributes to and share information from local, regional and state wide community, road and safety networks.
The committee is coordinated and administered by Melton City Council, and includes twenty three positions.

Expressions of Interest for Community Representatives & Organisational Stakeholders

Melton City Council is calling for both community members and organisational stakeholder representatives to fill vacant positions on its Safe City Advisory Committee (SCAC).
To be eligible as a SCAC Community Member or Organisational Stakeholder Representative, you must live, work, study or play in the City of Melton.
All applicants must be willing to commit to the following requirements of the Committee:
- prepare for and actively participate in four SCAC meetings per year
- keep informed of current developments, issues and concerns in the local community regarding road and community safety
- treat information with sensitivity and confidentiality
- act in a courteous manner, respecting others views and opinions
- declare conflicts of interests and participate in accordance with the SCAC Terms of Reference.
Community Members & Organisational Stakeholder representatives will be appointed for a period of one year.
When choosing the successful applicants, expressions of interest will be assessed according to their:
- motivation for applying
- community involvement
- skills, knowledge and experience
- understanding of community safety in the local context.
