Store and Outbuilding Policy and Guidelines

This policy provides guidance to residents proposing to construct a store or outbuilding on their property. The policy provides a series of design and siting guidelines to protect the amenity of rural and residential areas.

The objectives of Council’s Stores and Outbuilding Policy and Guidelines are to:

  • offer clarity and insight as to when the benefit of a planning permit is required for an outbuilding or store
  • provide guidelines as to the appropriate size and scale of outbuildings and stores
  • ensure that the siting, design and scale of outbuildings and stores adequately respects the character of an area
  • ensure that the design and siting of outbuildings and stores does not have a detrimental impact upon visual amenity and the natural landscape
  • ensure that the amenity of neighbouring properties is not unduly affected by the use or development of outbuildings and stores
