Melton Landscapes - Significant Landscape Features Strategy
Melton City Council have developed a Significant Landscape Features Strategy (Melton Landscapes).
The project identifies significant landscapes based on their features as outlined below. Melton Landscapes also highlights current challenges and future threats to our natural landscape in the context of an outer Melbourne growth area, and recommends a range of measures to better protect and manage these areas into the future.
Several different elements can contribute to the significance of a particular landscape, including:
- Aesthetic values (both visual and non visual)
- Historic values (e.g. buildings, structures, locations, landmarks)
- Environmental/scientific values (e.g. vegetation, geology, topography, watercourses, flora, and fauna)
- Social values (e.g. community or cultural connection)
The report was adopted by Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 2 May 2016.
The Melton Landscapes can be downloaded from the link below or you can view a hard copy at the Melton Civic Centre.
