Melton City Libraries host a range of fun, free events throughout the year for all ages and interests. Whether you’re a reader, writer, crafter, or something else altogether, there’s something here for you!

Bookings are required for some events. To make a booking, you can:

Early Years

Baby Bounce

Introduce your baby to the sounds and rhythm of language through stories and songs. Baby Bounce is perfect for babies aged 0-12 months and their parents or carers. You’ll also earn Read, Sing, Chat points for attending!

Preschool Storytime

Introduce your children to the wonderful world of books and imagination. Sessions include stories, songs, rhymes, and an introduction to AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language). After Schooligans

Join your favourite children's librarians for some after school fun! From arts and craft, to quizzes and games, reading or STEM activities, there's something for everyone in this fun and interactive program. Perfect for kids aged 5 to 12 years.

STEM Foundation

Are you a budding scientist or engineer aged 9 to 14, who loves everything STEM?

Join us after school as we embark on a journey of discovery, creativity, and endless possibilities!

Previously known as Beginners STEM Club, The STEM Foundation Program is designed to ignite curiosity and lay the groundwork for a lifelong journey in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). We will explore new themes each week, from coding, to science experiments, engineering, and design. 

Led by our friends at the Western BACE STEM Squad, the STEM Foundation Program provides a supportive and fun environment where young minds can flourish and grow. 

Sessions run every week during school terms. Bookings are required and places are limited.

STEM Masters

Calling all young scientists, engineers, and innovators aged 11 to 14! Are you ready to take your STEM journey to the next level?

Join us for the exhilarating STEM Masters Advanced Program, designed specifically for participants eager to explore and conquer advanced STEM concepts. Our dedicated friends from the Western BACE STEM Squad will be there to guide and support you along the way.

Sessions run every week during school terms.

To join the STEM Masters Program, you must first complete the STEM Foundation (Beginners) Program under the advice of the Western BACE STEM Squad team. To express your interest for our Term 4 program, please email libraryschoolyears@melton.vic.gov.au.

Little Writers

Booktok Besties

Come along to our book club for young people who love to read! Share what you're currently reading and get some recommendations for your next great read. There are no set titles, just a space to get together and talk about all the books you love and hate. For ages 15-25 years.

Online event safety and etiquette

We take eSafety seriously at Melton City Libraries. To help our events run smoothly and safely, we ask that you follow these guidelines when attending our online programs.

  • Use your first name(s) as your screen name
  • Use an appropriate background – either in a quiet space, or have fun using a virtual background!
  • Mute your microphone unless you are asked to unmute by the presenters
  • For children’s events, please ensure that an adult is always present with kids under 12.

Zoom links will be sent out by email before the event. (Remember to check your junk or spam folder). If you have not received your Zoom link 2 hours before the event, please contact the library.

We will open each Zoom meeting 5 minutes early to give you a chance to settle in before the program starts.
