Transporting Arts Caroline Springs EOI
About the Transporting Arts Pilot Program
The Transporting Arts Pilot Program is a partnership program led by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) in collaboration with Metro Trains, Yarra Trams, V/Line, and local councils. The Program aims to enliven the community and passenger experience at tram stops and train stations across Victoria with public art installations by local artists.
To date, the program has transformed eight sites including tram stops at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne Museum, Carlton and Northcote, and train stations in Wyndham Vale, Pascoe Vale, Wallan and Ballan. Caroline Springs Station has been selected as a location for an artwork installation Program in 2025.
More information is available on the Department of Transport and Planning's website.
Project Details
Concept:
Melton City Council in partnership with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and V/Line are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from artists in Victoria (individuals, groups or collaborations) to provide creative design artwork for Caroline Springs Station as part of DTP’s Transporting Arts Pilot Program.
This initiative aims to create a welcoming environment for commuters and visitors while showcasing the unique local landscape. To achieve this, we are seeking art submissions that embody Caroline Springs’ identity as a place of growth, diversity, and opportunity. The artwork can be new or existing and should celebrate what makes the area an exceptional place to live, work, and visit.
The site:
The selected artwork will be installed on the side walls and ceiling of an underpass at Caroline Springs Station. The artwork will be digitally printed on ACM panels with protective anti-graffiti film.
Artists’ submissions:
Artwork submissions can be new or existing, and we welcome all visual art representations for consideration.
There is no specific size or resolution needed for submissions however the artwork will need to be scalable for installation.
