Mythra Sage has been studying painting at RMIT since 2018, and has developed a career as both an artist and art teacher, teaching others her skills through workshops. She is also a tattoo artist. Born in Canada, Sage grew up between New Zealand, Australia and Bali. With a keen love for nature, Sage is quite the green thumb, having over 40 indoor house plants as well as a garden to tend to. Alongside her painting Sage also finds joy in sewing and working with clay.
About the work:
The key message of this artwork is that nature is a safe, happy and bullying-free space. For this project, Sage explored the idea that nature provides us with peace, freedom, healing and sanctuary, and that it can be a safe place if we are facing social pressures or bullying elsewhere in our lives. The powerbox is located in a small park where children and families can go to play and feel connected. The subtle colours used provide a welcoming and inviting atmosphere to the park.
