Group description:

This group has been formed from the Sons of the West program and now has 40 members. They are all men who are benefiting from improved fitness and Social connection. They meet on a weekly basis and have provided an opportunity for men in the community to connect with other men in a positive and social way. Our purpose is to “Provide support to the members of the group through the promotion of mental and physical wellbeing within an environment of friendship and respect”. We do this through holding weekly exercise sessions and discussing current men’s health issues of both physical and mental aspects. As part of the Councils aim to ensure a whole of community approach to promoting and protecting community wellbeing, we see that our group fits in with the acknowledgement that older people within the Community can provide support to similar people and provide an on-going, lifetime service and activity.

Concept:

The group’s logo consists of a blacksmith hammering, signifying forging friendships. The imagery is also taken from the Melton Men’s Group photographs provided to the artist.
