Artist Biography:
Caroline Springs resident and artist Jack Denic will complete a Fine Arts undergraduate degree in 2020 at RMIT University. Denic works across a wide range of mediums, primarily focusing on video and digital media, with a keen love for painting. His bright, eye-catching designs are filled with positivity and light. Denic is no stranger to the Melton Arts and Culture program having taken part in a laneway street art program, as well as this powerbox commission in 2019, so you may like to explore his development as an artist over this time.
About the work:
The concept behind these two powerboxes were inspired by local young ambassador Emily who is working hard to bring inclusivity and connection to sport with the powerful message that “No one gets left behind’. This message can be seen throughout the works, along with floral imagery for hope and puzzle pieces symbolising every one of all abilities coming together as one. Denic has delivered these messages of hope through the use of a vibrant colour palette which reflects the positivity and joy that Emily’s program is bringing to the community. Emily is the owner and developer of a specialist Hoops basketball program in Melton. The program provides the opportunity for children and adults with disabilities to play basketball in a non-judgemental and safe environment.
