Group description:

We are a leading not for profit community organisation, providing high quality learning, engagement and employment opportunities for our local communities. We do this by offering lifelong learning, education, training, supporting individuals and families, continuous improvement, partnering with other organisations and having staff as a community of learners connected to professional networks and best practice. The vision and mission of Djerriwarrh is to encourage people to be self-reliant and to support individuals and the local community by being caring, respectful, inclusive, adaptable and accountable. Our organisation’s democratic principles support and promote Australian democracy, equal rights, freedom of religion, speech and association and the values of openness and tolerance. We also recognise the importance of keeping children and young people safe. We also run the SEED program and AMEP English classes for refugees.

Concept:

The artist has focussed largely on the English classes for refugees, using the sunflower and floral symbols as a sign of growth.
