March – July 2022 • During opening hours • Melton Library & Learning Hub
Local artist Lucy Webster explores traditional Aboriginal art styles in this exhibition designed to bring further awareness of Aboriginal culture to the wider community, and to encourage the Aboriginal community to share their knowledge and skills.
Using a strong colour palette and a mix of contemporary and traditional painting techniques, Lucy explores plants and animals from her own ancestral stories.
Artist Statement
I want this exhibition to demonstrate to everyone what Aboriginal culture means to me. I want to reach as many different people as possible from as many backgrounds as possible. There is such a vast loss in our cultural knowledge and connection and many people don’t understand our culture. I want to use this exhibition to spread awareness and start people asking questions and learning more about the First Nations and our people, who have been here for over 80,000 years.
