Pyrrhic Victory
PAST EXHIBITION
An exhibition by Adelai van Loggerenberg
Tuesday 7 March – Thursday 15 June 2023
‘Pyrrhic Victory’ is a series of paintings by emerging local artist Adelai van Loggerenberg that highlights the conflicting relationship between our growing human needs and the needs of our natural environment.
Delving into complex themes such as habitat destruction, displacement of wildlife and disruption of natural cycles, this exhibition asks the audience to consider ‘what is the cost from continuous expansion on our natural environment’?
Visit during opening hours • Melton Library and Learning Hub (31 McKenzie Street, Melton 3337)
About Adelai van Loggerenberg
Adelai van Loggerenberg is a largely self-taught visual artist and has been drawing since she can remember. Currently, she primarily works in acrylics. Her local surroundings provide inspiration for her artworks which are heavily influenced by her background in Environmental Management and previous architectural studies. Through her artwork she explores the relationship of our natural and manmade environments. Van Loggerenberg is particularly interested in fluctuations and tensions in this relationship. Her creativity extends beyond painting into design, including designing and making clothing and costumes for herself and her children.
