Conversations with Birds

PAST EXHIBITION

By Naomi Leeder

Wednesday 1 February – Monday 31 July 2023

Conversations with Birds is a collection of vibrant and connected artworks featuring detailed depictions of Australian native birds. Through close observation from her home studio, local artist Naomi Leeder has captured the unique personalities of a range of our beloved native birds.

Focusing on bright colours and textures that highlight the key features of a variety of birds, this exhibition looks to highlight the magnificence of our native birdlife that can be enjoyed in our home gardens and local parks and reserves.

About Naomi Leeder

Naomi Leeder is an artist who is deeply passionate about artistic education, art for wellbeing and art projects that can bring communities together. Her art practice has developed over the last 20 years and continues to evolve as she challenges herself to explore new skills and techniques. Painting is her preferred art form as she loved the tactility and movement of the paint in its various consistencies and hues. With a focus in creating works based on native Australian birds, landscapes, animals and people, she has worked on refining her attention to detail and finding the individual character in each subject while ensuring colour is one of the key elements that engages viewers.
