Upgrades to the Melton Recreation Reserve are well underway, with a new community sports pavilion nearing completion.

The new pavilion will serve as a hub for local football, netball, and cricket clubs, with the new building centralised for optimal viewing of the sportsground.

Female friendly changerooms, umpires’ rooms, community social and meeting space, a kitchen and a kiosk are included as part of the new building.

Construction on the new pavilion kicked off last October and is due to be finished in July 2024, weather permitting.

Construction of the double-storey timekeeper and coaches box started in April.

Demolition of the old pavilion and construction of a new car park is also expected to finish before the end of the year, allowing community groups time to transition from the old pavilion before its demolition.

Workers have completed the roof, ceiling grids and plastering and are in the process of finishing cladding, painting, hardware fit offs, tiling and flooring.

The project is being funded through Melton City Council and $3.3 million from the State Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme.

Council will continue to liaise with local sporting clubs and other key stakeholders directly to provide status updates.
