Join NAIDOC Week celebrations
Published on 27 June 2024
Melton City Council is inviting the community to join the celebrations for NAIDOC Week.
NAIDOC Week is a time to recognise the rich and diverse history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Held around Australia from 7-14 July, the theme for NAIDOC Week this year is: Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud.
The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations people.
Fire is a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Council is supporting several local community activities that celebrate local Indigenous culture.
