Celebrating our cultural diversity
Published on 19 February 2025
Melton City Council will celebrate Cultural Diversity Week 2025 with an all-inclusive festival featuring cultural performances, family-friendly activities, and storytelling.
Cultural Diversity Week will run from 17-23 March with this year’s theme being My Melton, Your Melton, Our Melton!
Council will host a free event on Saturday 22 March at Melton Community Hall for all ages and abilities to come together and celebrate the City’s rich cultural diversity.
The event will kick-off at 11am with cultural performances and fun activities for the whole family including First Nations performances, Indian sari trials, Henna, face painting, hair braiding and a silent disco.
There will also be a range of delicious multicultural food on offer, and a chill out zone for those needing some quiet time.
Throughout the week, Council will feature inspiring stories from 12 residents who have played a vital role in making the City of Melton a more inclusive and welcoming place for all residents to call home. Starting on Monday 17 March, the video series called The City of Melton – My Home, Your Home, Our Home can be viewed on our social media channels.
The annual festival also recognises the United Nation’s Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, also known as Harmony Day, on 21 March.
