Taylors Road and Westwood Drive Traffic Lights and Road Duplication
- Project scheduleStart early 2025 with expected completion late 2026
Project overview
The roundabout at Taylors Road and Westwood Drive is currently one of busiest intersections in the City of Melton. There are traffic delays at the roundabout and safety concerns for pedestrians and cyclists. The roundabout will be upgraded into a four-way intersection, with traffic lights and two additional lanes between Gourlay Road and Westwood Drive. This upgrade is a key component of the broader Taylors Road Corridor Upgrade Plan, which aims to accommodate the future growth of our city while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents.
Key features of the project include:
- Expansion and realignment of the road to improve traffic flow and safety
- Installation of new traffic lights to regulate traffic and enhance safety at the intersection
- Pedestrian crossings at the intersection to allow for safe and accessible pedestrian crossings as well as support active transport options
- Installation of public lighting to increase visibility and enhance safety
- Road duplication, with an additional lane in each direction between Gourlay Road and Westwood Drive
- Two additional dedicated pedestrian crossings
- Drainage improvements
- New landscaping
- Relocation of services such as electricity, water, gas, and communications will be placed underground for durability and safety
