Bridge Road extension
New extension to Bridge Road in Cobblebank, between Ferris Road and Adelong Boulevard.
The project includes:
- an 830-metre extension to Bridge Road between Ferris Road and Adelong Boulevard
- signalised intersection at Ferris Road and Bridge Road
- Active transport path along Bridge Road
- Landscaping
The $10 million project will link the Atherstone and Robinsons Rise estates, provide access to the new St Francis Catholic School, and the future Melton Hospital which is expected to open in 2029.
The Victorian Government has contributed $620,000 to the project to support sewerage and conduit works required to service the Melton Hospital.
This webpage will be updated as works progress to keep residents informed.
November 2024 update
Final asphalting and line marking will be completed as part of the Bridge Road extension project between Monday 2 December and Thursday 5 December. These works will require temporary road closures.
Following these works, the project requires Powercor to supply power to the traffic signals and public lighting, which is expected to take place early 2025.
Monday 2 December and Tuesday 3 December: Closure of Bridge Road between Stadium Drive and Ferris Road
Bridge Road, between Stadium Drive and Ferris Road, will be closed to through traffic from 8am Monday 2 December until 4pm Tuesday 3 December.
Traffic will detour via Stadium Drive during this time. Roadside electronic message boards will be in place. Please refer to the map below.
Note: Traffic will flow via ‘contraflow’ on Ferris Road at times during these two days, where traffic will wait at one end while the traffic from the other direction flows.
Wednesday 4 December and Thursday 5 December: Bridge Road, between Stadium Drive and Ferris Road open for traffic.
Note: Traffic will flow via ‘contraflow’ on Ferris Road at times during these two days, where traffic will wait at one end while the traffic from the other direction flows and there will be no right turn from Ferris Road into Bridge Road.
Thursday 5 December Night works from 8pm until 5am: Closure of Ferris Road between Alfred Road/Wimbledon Boulevard and the Cobblebank shopping precinct, and closure of Bridge Road, between Ferris Road and Atherstone Boulevard.
A detour will be setup via Hollingsworth Drive, Atherstone Boulevard, and Wimbledon Boulevard. Roadside electronic message boards will be in place. Please refer to the map below.
