Mount Atkinson Children’s and Community Centre

Melton City Council in partnership with the Victorian Government through the Building Blocks grant program & Growing Suburbs Fund delivered the new Mount Atkinson Children’s and Community Centre. This facility will provide flexible community space for a range of programs and services for the growing community, a Maternal Child Health Service and four room Kindergarten.

Three Kindergarten rooms opened in January 2023 with the fourth to open as community demand grows.

The project has delivered:

  • Four room Kindergarten
  • Kindergarten licenced outdoor play spaces
  • Maternal Child Health facilities with two consulting rooms
  • Community Centre with two community rooms and community kitchen
  • Community outdoor space
  • Carpark & landscaping works
  • Two EV charging stations
  • The building will have solar panels on the roof and the carpark lighting is also solar powered

The project is almost complete as of December 2022 and is awaiting Practical Completion sign off. 

Funding partners 

Melton City Council is funding this project along with external funding. Building Blocks VSBA is contributing $2 Million and the Victorian State Government through the Growing Suburbs Fund is contributing $800,000.
