Hume Drive Duplication

Melton City Council duplicated Hume Drive between Gourlay Road and Calder Park Drive by increasing the existing two lanes to four lanes with a new road median.

The single lane carriageway was very congested at peak times and this road duplication will improve the flow of traffic along Hume Drive and make it safer for all road users.

This project is part of a series of works across the City of Melton to ease traffic congestion and make our roads safer and better suited to Melton’s growing community.

The project included:

  • Urbanisation of Hume Drive (kerbs, underground drainage, centre median islands)
  • Road widening and realignment of the road
  • Shared paths and footpath links
  • Underground services relocations (electricity, water, gas, and communications)
  • New public lighting and realignment of existing public lighting
  • Landscaping
