Caroline Springs RSL War Memorial

The Caroline Springs RSL is the major driver behind a new war memorial being constructed on the promenade at Lake Caroline. Council is working closely with the RSL (which received a Federal Government grant, and has been fundraising for almost a year), to deliver the $101,000 project.

President of the Caroline Springs RSL, Andy Marshall, is thrilled that the memorial is being constructed along the lake, and is looking forward to the project’s completion.

“This memorial is going to make a lot of people very happy,” Mr Marshall said. “It’s a fitting tribute to the men and women who have given so much in the defence of our nation. “We can’t wait for it to be finished, and think it’s going to be a striking feature along the lake.”

The memorial will feature a six metre, laser-cut, poppy-silhouette, steel wall with red backlit LED’s which will be lit 24/7; and another six metre, interpretive wall highlighting Australia’s contribution to the pursuit of peace, freedom  and democracy in conflicts around the world.

The interpretative wall covers six themes including:

  • On land—Army
  •  At sea—Navy
  • In the air—Air Force
  • We fight—Indigenous involvement
  • United—Women, and
  • Animals by our side

The memorial was completed on 23 April 2019.
