Construction of Abey road and the bridge is now open for public use. The official opening was on 9 August 2017.

This new road and bridge provides an east-west connection across the Toolern Creek connecting Abey and Brooklyn Rd. It provides alternative access to the Western Freeway, will reduce traffic on Station Rd and increase access to Melton station.

Some of the key features include:
  • 850mt of new road– Abey Rd
  • Bridge over Toolern Creek
  • Minor improvements to Brooklyn Rd
  • Connection of bikes and walking tracks increasing the path network
  • Landscaping works.
