Community Satisfaction Survey

The Annual Community Satisfaction Survey has been conducted for 10 years. Comparison data dates back to 2015.

In 2024 the survey was conducted independently by Metropolis Research.  The survey involved in-person interviews with 801 randomly selected residents in May and June 2024.

The 2024 Household Community Satisfaction Survey Results

The 2024 survey results(PDF, 4MB) indicate that Melton City Council recorded an overall satisfaction score of 7.0 out of 10, a one percent increase from last year.  This result was identical to the metropolitan Melbourne (7.0), but marginally (1%) lower than the western region councils' (7.1) average.

The average satisfaction with the 31 included Council services and facilities was 7.6, up one percent on the 7.5 recorded last year.  This was a "very good" level of satisfaction.

Satisfaction at an “excellent” level was observed with:

  • Green waste collection service (8.8)
  • Regular garbage collection (8.7)
  • Regular recycling (8.6)
  • Library services (8.5)
  • Hard rubbish collection (8.2)
  • Provision of community events and festivals (8.0)
  • Melton Recycling Facility (8.0)
  • Provision of cultural events (7.9)
  • Community centres / Neighbourhood houses (7.8)
  • Sports grounds and associated facilities (7.8)
  • Services for young people (7.8)
  • Council's website (7.8)
  • Services for seniors (7.8)
      

The main issues to address for the City of Melton were:

  • Traffic management (18%, down from 25%)
  • Street trees (9%, up from 5%)
  • Roads (including roadworks) (8%, down from `3%)
  • Parks, gardens, and open space (7%, down from 12%)
  • Safety, policing, and crime (6%, down from 8%)
