Councillor committee and external organisation representation

Representation on Council committees and on external committees plays an important role in policy development, advocacy, planning and provision of a wide range of services directly relevant to the community and provides a framework for Council to receive community feedback and external advice.  Councillor representation on committees for 2025 will be determined following the election of Councillors.

Delegated Committee

Delegated Committees of Council have delegated power from the Council as set out in an Instrument of Delegation. The Instrument outlines the extent and limitations of the Delegated Committee’s powers and functions with these to be exercised in accordance with the guidelines or policies adopted by the Council.

Advisory Committees

An Advisory Committee is a Committee established by Council to provide advice to it or its delegate. It considers issues and makes recommendations to the full Council.  Advisory Committees have no delegated power and so their recommendations need to be adopted or endorsed by the full Council at a Council meeting before they can be implemented.
