Road works and closures
As one of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities, at times, roadwork will require the partial or complete closure of roads within the City of Melton to build new roads and intersections or manage the safety of motorists during events. Please note every effort is made to reduce the impacts these works have on our road network however where needed appropriate detours will be implemented. Please follow detours accordingly and adhere to the regulatory signage that is present.
Major traffic projects
Council has a number of projects across the City of Melton to ease traffic congestion and make our roads safer and better suited to Melton’s growing community. These include:
VicRoads are also undertaking major road projects. For more information on these projects, visit the VicRoad project website.
Annual sealed road renewal program
The project involves the resurfacing of various asphalt roads within the municipality through Council’s Annual Sealed Road Renewal Program.
Council is committed to delivering safe road infrastructure to the community in a financially responsible manner. As part of this commitment. Council undertakes an annual asphalt resurfacing program through its Capital Works Program to maximise the useful life of road-based assets, and to maintain the best possible condition of roads throughout their life cycle.
This program will provide newly surfaced roads that will extend the useful life of those assets and provide a road surface that is safe for road users to travel on. By extending the life of the asset we extend the amount of time before a full reconstruction is required, thus spending less money on the assets in the long term.
For more information and a list of sites that will be completed as part of the program visit our Annual Sealed Road Resurfacing Works webpage.
